On Sunday 14 February, Bro. Tan gave a Dhamma talk at Vihāra Sanghamitta in Karawang, about 70km east of Jakarta. He was there as a guest speaker at the invitation of its Abbess, Venerable Bhikkhunī Ayya Santinī. The talk was attended by 200 devotees, and was held in honour of Venerable Ayya Sīlavatī’s 63rd birthday.

Nalanda youths were warmly welcomed by the teacher-adviser of IPG Buddhist Society, Bro. Johnny, and several teacher trainees. The purpose of their visit was to foster spiritual friendship and to forge closer ties between NYC and IPG Buddhist Society.

This special outing was meant as a ‘reward’ for younger Free School students who had full-attendance since classes began in January.

Their first destination was a farm in Ulu Tiram, where they learned how to grow vegetables from seedlings till the harvesting stage. By courtesy of the farm-owner, everyone got the opportunity to harvest their own “rose lettuce” using the “two-finger method”.
