Abbot of Jing Long Shan visits Nalanda

The Abbot of Jing Long Shan Temple, Venerable Wen Tong (文通法师), visited Nalanda Centre for the first time on Monday, 23 November.  He was accompanied by Ven. Zhang Deng (章灯法师), President of Serdang Buddhist Association Bro.Yap, and Jing Long Shan Committee Member Bro. Roger Tan.  Jing Long Shan is a huge, established Buddhist temple located in Rawang, Selangor.

Ulu Tiram students visit Nalanda Centre

On Saturday 21 November, a group of Dhamma School students and six teachers from the Ulu Tiram Buddhist Association in Johor visited Nalanda Centre.   They have been planning the visit for a few months and was looking forward to their trip.  Nalanda officers gave the guests a warm welcome and took them on an educational tour of the Centre where they also learned about Buddhist culture and history.

Firefly Mission visits Nalanda

On 10 November, Nalandians were delighted to welcome 38 members of the Firefly Mission Singapore, led by its President, Dr. Ng Yee Kong.  They were returning from their annual trip to Sasanarakkha Buddhist Sanctuary in Taiping for the ‘Kathina’ celebrations.  They had picked an auspicious day to visit as it was also Deepavali.

Vietnamese venerables visit Nalanda Centre

On Sunday 8 November, Venerable Thich Thai Hoa, Venerable Thich Phuoc Can and Venerable Thich Tu Niem from Vietnam visited Nalanda Centre.  They were greeted by Nalanda Buddhist Society President Sis. Evelyn Chow and other senior Nalanda officers who gave the venerables a tour of the building.

Light of Dhamma within us

On Tuesday 10 November, Bro. Tan gave a Dhamma talk in conjunction with Deepavali and the visit by members of Firefly Mission Singapore.  Bro. Tan said that Deepavali is celebrated as the Festival of Lights; but there must also be a ‘Light of Dhamma’ within us.  It is a ‘guiding light’ which we can depend on to help ourselves and others.

Venerable Aggacitta visits Nalanda

On Wednesday 4 November, Nalandians were honoured to welcome Venerable Aggacitta Māha Thero on his visit to Nalanda Centre.  Ayasma Aggacitta is a highly-regarded Dhamma teacher and the Abbot of Sāsanārakkha Buddhist Sanctuary (SBS) in Taiping, Perak.

Visit by Appamādaviharī Committee Members

On Saturday 31 October, Venerable Ayya Susīlā and Appamādaviharī Meditation Centre Committee Members from Penang visited Nalanda Centre on a familiarisation tour. They were warmly greeted by Nalandians who made them welcome and gladly took them around the centre.  Ayya Susīlā and the visitors then met with senior Nalanda officers for a genial discussion on the Society’s operations and educational activities.

Guided meditation with Ven. Asabhacara

On Wednesday 21 October, Venerable Sayadaw Asabhacara gave a guided meditation and Dhamma talk at Nalanda Centre.  In his talk, Ven. Asabhacara encouraged devotees to meditate diligently and maintain mindfulness in our daily activities.  Devotees also took the opportunity to clarify doubts on their daily practice during the Q & A session.

MP and State Assemblyman visit Nalanda

On Sunday 11 October, Nalanda Centre had the honour of welcoming our Member of Parliament for Puchong, Yang Berhormat Mr. Gobind Singh Deo, and Selangor State Assemblyman for Kinrara, Yang Berhormat Mr. Ng Sze Han, for an official visit.  The Yang Berhormats’ entourage was given a warm welcome by Nalanda members while touring the Centre.

Buddhist Fellowship Singapore Exco visits Nalanda 

On Sunday 4 October, 28 Buddhist Fellowship (BF) Singapore members, including the newly appointed Executive Committee led by its President Bro. Wilson Ang, visited Nalanda Centre in Sri Serdang.   They were warmly welcomed by Nalanda officers.
