Visit by Ven. Vinayarakkhita Thero

On Monday 8 June, Nalanda Centre welcomed the visit by Venerable Vinayarakkhita Thero from Hyderabad, India.  Ven. Vinayarakkhita who was on a short trip to Malaysia took time to visit Nalanda and to meet with Founder Bro Tan.

Ven. Siridhamma visits Nalanda Dharma School

On Sunday 17 May, Nalanda Dharma School (NDS) was honoured by the visit of Venerable K. Siridhamma Thero, the Principal of Buddhist Institute Sunday Dhamma School (BISDS), Buddhist Māha Vihāra.  Ven. Siridhamma was warmly received by the Director of Nalanda Dharma School Sis. Sunanda Ong and School officers.

UPM Buddhist Society Leaders meet at Nalanda

On 25 and 26 April, the Management Committee of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Buddhist Society met at Nalanda Centre to prepare for their upcoming annual general meeting and leadership transition camp.  The student leaders also took the opportunity to call at Nalanda Founder Bro. Tan to seek his advice on strengthening the Buddhist movement on campus.  Sadhu anumodana!

Visitors to Nalanda Photography Exhibition

In the past few days, the “Passage through India” special photography exhibition which is on-going at Nalanda Centre continues to draw groups of visitors.  On 11 May, Ven. Sing Kan, the Abbess of Sam Poh Tong Temple in Ampang, came visiting with Ven. Pu Yi from Japan, as well as her two devotees.

Informative ‘Open Day’ at Nalanda Centre

On Sunday 29 March, Nalanda held its first ‘Open Day’ to enable new visitors to be introduced and given an informative tour of Nalanda Centre.  As the Centre was expanded through the generosity of the public, we wish that the community would benefit from this initiative and enjoy a spiritually-charged visit.  The ‘Open Day’ was hosted by Bro. Charlie Teng and Sis. Buddhini Tan, EXCO Members of Nalanda Buddhist Society.

Kelantan Dhamma Teachers visit Nalanda

A group of 12 earnest Dhamma School teachers and Buddhist leaders from Kelantan came to Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang for a fruitful learning visit from 20 – 22 March.  They were warmly welcomed and hosted by Nalanda Dharma School (N.D.S.) Director Sis. Sunanda Ong and N.D.S. Facilitators.

Sangha Room ‘officiated’ by Ajahn Sumedho

During his visit to Sri Serdang on Sunday 15 March, Nalandians invited Venerable Ajahn Sumedho and 3 accompanying forest bhikkhus to ‘officiate’ the new Sangha Room located at Level 4 (next to the Dhamma Teaching Hall) of Nalanda Centre.  Founder of Nalanda Bro. Tan invited the venerable monks to accept the ‘room offering’ for the use of visiting Sangha members.  Ajahn Sumedho graciously accepted the invitation and became the first person to occupy the room.

UPM Buddhist Alumni AGM held at Nalanda

On Sunday 15 March, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Buddhist Society Alumni (PBUPM-A) held their 9th Annual General Meeting at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.  The Management Committee duly presented the annual activities report at the meeting for members’ approval.  The Alumni has been active in keeping contact with UPM Buddhist graduates and inspiring them to further their Dhamma practice.  Nalanda wishes PBUPM-A continued progress and success in the coming years.  Sadhu anumodana!

Buddhist Composer Imee Ooi visits Nalanda

Ms. Imee Ooi, one of Malaysia’s foremost Buddhist composer and vocalist, paid a visit to Nalanda Centre on Saturday, 21 March.  Imee, who was accompanied by her colleague Mr. Chai Yu, spent two hours touring the Centre and having discussions with Nalanda officers.  They later made a courtesy call on Nalanda Founder, Bro Tan.
