Venerable Ayyas’ visit to Nalanda Centre

On Wednesday 29 October, Nalandian officers warmly welcomed Venerables Ayya Aggavatī  and Ayya Cālā to Nalanda Centre for a familiarization visit.  Ven. (Sayalay) Cālā, a Malaysian ordained in the Burmese tradition, and Ven. (Sayalay) Aggavatī, a Burmese nun, are both studying at the International Theravada University in Yangon.

Welcome ‘Home’ – Firefly Mission Singapore

On Monday 27 October, 90 members of Firefly Mission and Singaporean devotees came to Nalanda Centre for a ‘homecoming’ visit.  Despite it being a working day, many Nalandians took time off to accord them a warm and fitting welcome!

Firefly Mission Singapore – Thank you for visiting!

Yesterday, 90 members of Firefly Mission and Singaporean devotees descended upon Nalanda Centre for a wonderful visit and ‘reunion’ with Nalandians.  We had a great time renewing ties and making new friends, while glowing with friendship and camaraderie in Dhamma.  Thanks to Firefly Mission for visiting us and brightening up everywhere you go!  Sadhu anumodana.

Special visit by Ven. Sri Saranankara

On Saturday 18 October, Ven. Sri Saranankara Nāyaka Thero, Abbot of Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple in Kuala Lumpur, dropped by for an impromptu visit to the Nalanda Centre annex building under renovation.  The venerable had come from an earlier Nalanda Pindacāra Programme in nearby Seri Kembangan.  He was warmly received upon arrival by Founder Bro. Tan and other officers.

Ven. Sujatha visits Nalanda Centre

On Tuesday 23 September, Venerable Sujatha Thero, Abbot of Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple in Woodstock, Illinois, USA, came to Nalanda Centre on a familiarisation visit.  He was accompanied by Venerables Indarathana and Srirathana.  The visiting Sangha members were warmly received by Nalandian officers including host Bro. Pee Che Yong, who brought the venerables on a tour of Nalanda Centre and Youth Centre.

Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch Leaders’ Visit

Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch Management Committee members Bro. Goo Chu Lai and Bro. Fong Chee Meng made a short visit to Nalanda Centre on Friday, 12 September.  Joining them were Sis. Ong Yen See, who is the member in charge of ticketing sales for the branch’s upcoming charity concert, and Bro. Chiam, a youth leader at Kedah Buddhist Association.

Supporting the “Four-fold Assembly”

Recently, Nalanda had the good fortune of hosting Ven. Ayya Santinī from Maribaya, Indonesia, who was accompanied on her visit here by several Indonesian devotees.  While residing at Nalanda Centre, she gave several teachings and conducted personal interviews with devotees.  We were also honoured to receive Venerables Dhammadinnā and Sumangalā who came to meet Ayya Santinī in Sri Serdang.

Friends from Shah Alam visit Nalanda

On Sunday 3 August, 42 members from Shah Alam Buddhist Society (SABS) and its Dhamma School made a half-day visit to Nalanda Centre.  They were warmly welcomed by Nalandians, and joyfully participated in our Service Sunday with a talk by Dr. Phang Cheng Kar.  At the same time, the SABS Dhamma School students joined Nalandian teenagers for group activities organised by Nalanda Dharma School (NDS).

SJBA EXCO members visit Nalanda Centre

On Saturday 26 July, seven senior EXCO members from Subang Jaya Buddhist Association (SJBA) led by their President, Bro. Chim Siew Choon, made a study-visit to Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang. The SJBA leaders were warmly welcomed by Nalanda President Bro. Lee Kong Foo and Nalandian officers.

Visit by Maha Karuna Buddhist Society

On Sunday 13 July, a bus-load of Maha Karuna Buddhist Society (MKBS) members and their Dhamma School students paid a learning-visit to Nalanda Centre.  The visitors arrived early in the morning and joined in the ‘Dhamma Day’ Service Sunday with pūja, chanting, and meditation.  Everyone felt happy listening to an insightful Dhamma talk by Nalanda Founder Bro. Tan, and thereafter performed Sanghika Dāna (lunch offering to monks).
