From 3 to 5 June, eight Nalandians joined 120 youths from 10 other organisations to participate in the Seck Kia Eenh (SKE) Buddhist Youth Leadership Workshop in Malacca. The talks at this workshop were presented by notable luminaries of the Buddhist communities in Malaysia and Indonesia.
Read moreOn Saturday 11 June, Nalanda Centre hosted a one-day sutta study and meditation workshop facilitated by Āyasmā Aggacitta, with the subject “How to diminish the effects of past kamma”. Āyasmā Aggacitta shared on what the Pāli suttas actually said about the matter. The aim of the workshop was to help participants practise effectively to end suffering.

Two teenagers who were on their semester break conducted the two-day motivational workshop for these children, giving them revision in English and Mathematics and preparing them for the new school term next year.

Read moreOn Service Sunday 13 December, Dr. Phang Cheng Kar conducted the first of two sessions of his MindfulGym Workshop at Nalanda Centre. It is a mindfulness-based stress management programme specially designed for relaxation and wellness. Dr. Phang said that the programme was tailored to suit Malaysians and worked well for both the secular and Buddhist communities.
Read moreOn Sunday 15 November, Persatuan Buddhist Universiti Putra Malaysia (PBUPM) organised a one-day facilitators’ workshop at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang. It was conducted by UTAR lecturer Bro. Ananda Lee. The aim of the workshop was to train facilitators for its ‘Annual Buddhist Camp’ at Bodhi Park, Shah Alam, in January next year. Sunanda Ong conducted a Dhamma workshop for members of Nottingham University Buddhist Society, Semenyih, in conjunction with its 6th anniversary. Sis. Sunanda spoke about positive transformation, highlighting the fact that true transformation can only come about when education is accompanied by cultivation. She impressed upon the students the importance of putting their Dhamma knowledge into practice if they wanted to see tangible results in their lives.
Read moreOn Saturday 17 October, Nalanda Youth Centre held the first session of Fellowship Undergraduate Network (F.U.N.) 2015. Participants from various higher institutions came together for the orientation programme, themed Hello Friend & Friendship. The programme kicked off with a lively ice-breaking session, followed by an introduction to Buddhist culture and the offering of lunch dāna. Sis. Sumanā Lim spoke about the importance of dāna, which are acts of giving that help to reduce greed and promote selflessness.

The participants consisted of Indonesian undergraduates aged between 18 and 21 years old, studying in Malaysia. The theme of the camp was “It all starts from Me”.

The fruitful workshop was designed to train in-house emcees to host various Nalanda programmes and activities with poise, confidence and effectiveness. The facilitators, Sis. Sadhika Tan and Bro. Tong, shared many useful techniques including ways to overcome stage fright, effective delivery, as well as organising and preparing the presentation.
