Youth leaders share their journey at Special Youth Dialogue

In conjunction with WACANA 2025, the youth continued their discussions at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang as part of the Field Engagement Session on Sunday 21 December.  The dialogue brought together a panel of Buddhist youth leaders from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia featuring Bro. Yeo Disheng (founding leader of Nalanda Youth Centre), Bro. Teo Heng Xuan (founder of DAYWA and Handful of Leaves) and Bro. Willing Chen (founding member of the Widyodaya Buddhist Community).

Youth Dialogue – Engaging youths in Dhamma

Across Malaysia, temples and Buddhist organisations that once buzzed with intergenerational activities now wonder how to engage youths who find traditional formats uninspiring.  These aren’t abstract problems – they are the daily reality for countless communities. We invite you to join this special dialogue, a platform for honest conversations about these challenges and the strategies to overcome them, led by Bro. Yeo Disheng, Bro. Teo Heng Xuan and Bro. Willing Chen – three dynamic leaders recognised for championing youth empowerment and community building. The service starts at 9am on Sunday 21 December at Nalanda Centre.  All are welcome.

Youths further training in spirited chanting

On Sunday 27 July, 18 youths continued their learning after the Special Lecture by Achariya Vijaya by attending a training for chanting leaders led by Bro. Ajita Lim. When leading with the right spirit, one experiences “spirituality”, deepening one’s faith in the Three Jewels. This spirit of an upright Dhamma practitioner in turn, can bring meaningful impact to others.

Special lecture for youths by Achariya Vijaya

On Sunday 27 July, Achariya Vijaya Samarawickrama gave a special lecture on ‘The Origin of Religion’ at Nalanda Youth Centre, a topic of interest to understand the relationship between man and religion. Ach. Vijaya expounded on how the evolution of man brought about the need for religion and also their respective beliefs on how the universe began.

Dhamma chat with Student Committee of KMB Widyodaya

On Saturday 19 April, Bro. Lee Kong Foo, Nalanda Board of Management member and Youth Mentor, joined students of KMB Widyodaya, Prasetiya Mulya University Buddhist Community for their Fellowship Building and Management Workshop. Held at Vihāra Saung Paramita, West Java, the workshop aimed to prepare the incoming 2025/2026 Committee with the guidance of their spiritual mentors Ven.  Bhikkhu Sri Subalaratano Mahāthera, Ven. Bhikkhu Pariñño, and Mr. Ir. Selamat Rodjali.

Welcoming Ajahn Dton for Youth Cultivation Day

This morning, Nalanda members and volunteers warmly welcomed Ajahn Dton Dhirapanno to Nalanda Centre.  Ajahn Dton is conducting the Youth Cultivation Day programme today for students of ages 16 to 23, to introduce them to meditation, as well as guide them towards maintaining calm and peace during challenges and demanding times.  We wish the students fruitful learning today.
