On 13 October, laughter could be heard ringing from the Srivijaya Hall of Nalanda Centre. It was the second session of the story-telling workshop. Mr. Vijaya Samarawickrama (fondly known as Uncle Vijaya) enthralled the participants with his sharing on presentation skills. He also taught how to best use the voice and body language to make stories come alive, and captivate the audience.
Both speech as well as non-verbal communication are equally important. Assigning the participants into three groups, each group was given a story to narrate; thus everyone had ample opportunity to put into practice what was taught. Much humour and glee filled the hall as Uncle Vijaya mimicked some common mistakes, and skilfully guided the participants in their presentations.
