Undergraduates learn ways to manage stress

A happy group photo after learning together with good friends.

On Sunday, 13 April, Nalanda Youth Centre organised a Stress Management Workshop for students aged 16 to 23.  Guided by Dr. Phang Cheng Kar, the students became more aware of their emotional states and explored practical ways to care for their minds and hearts amidst daily stress.

“Stress” is a general term used to describe the tension that arises when we cope with changes or challenges in life.  To understand our stress levels, we need to recognise our personal stress symptoms, which is experienced through thoughts, feelings, body, and behaviour.  To help manage stress, Dr. Phang introduced several mindfulness-based activities, such as Mindful Stretching, Mindful Breathing, and a Gratitude Workout, all aimed at calming and grounding ourselves.

At the end of the workshop, participants expressed deep gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to learn effective techniques for managing stress both in school and in life.  We sincerely thank Dr. Phang for his insightful and inspiring teaching.  May the students utilise their newly learned skills to better manoeuvre through their studies.
