Ven. Jutipañño leads reflection on qualities of a Buddhist practitioner

A joyful gathering of good friends to learn from Ven. Jutipañño.

On Saturday 8 March, we warmly welcomed Venerable Jutipañño Mahāthero to Nalanda Educational & Outreach Centre Kuala Lumpur, for a Dhamma teaching. He guided devotees to reflect on the three qualities of a Buddhist practitioner in order to gauge and better understand our own spiritual progress.

As a Buddhist practitioner, learning and practicing the Dhamma enables us to become more humble and respectful. The knowledge we gain should help us solve problems in our lives and not deepen our attachment to views and a heightened ego, which can lead to unnecessary arguments with others. Secondly, we become more grateful and appreciative. We learn to appreciate all the blessings we receive and the kindness of others, starting with being grateful to our parents.

The third quality which we can develop is selfless service. Ven. Jutipañño advised that as volunteers, our contribution is vital in sustaining the teaching and practice of Dhamma. As we benefit from our learning and practice here, we give back by contributing in any way we can, with a heart of gratitude.

We extend our appreciation to Ven. Jutipañño for taking time to visit and guide us when he is in the Klang Valley. We wish him good health, safe travels and success in his every noble endeavour. Sadhu.
