Ven. Sayadaw Nyanapurnik Maha Thera with Nalanda officers, students and devotees at Nalande Centre.

On Saturday 27 June, Nalanda Centre was indeed honoured by the visit of Venerable Sayadaw Nyanapurnik Maha Thera from Nepal.  He was accompanied by Venerable Gavesi, Venerable Sayalay Cini, President of Selangor Buddhist Vipassana Meditation Society Bro. The visitors were brought around for a tour of Nalanda Centre and the library.  Ven. Nyanapurnik was delighted by the informative tour and the details put into the interior design of the building.  He expressed his admiration for Bro. Tan and Nalandians for showing the best of Malaysian Buddhism with the right focus on education and practice.

Ven. Nyanapurnik was also asked by Nalandians about the after-effects of the recent devastating earthquake that shook Kathmandu.  The venerable said that the quake had badly damaged infrastructure of Kathmandu Valley and adversely affected the livelihood of thousands.  Bro. Tan then pledged Nalandians’ contribution of RM50,000 to rebuilding projects undertaken by Ven. Nyanapurnik in Nepal, to which the venerable rejoice therein.

We thank Ven. Nyanapurnik and his entourage for visiting Nalanda Centre and may his reverence be blessed with good health and much peace!  Sadhu anumodana.
