Wesak celebrations at Nalanda

Bro. Tan giving the Wesak Day Dhamma Talk with the theme 'Good Practitioner and Friend".

The Wesak Observance at Nalanda has come to a joyful conclusion on Wednesday, 14 May with the offering of lunch dāna and the departure of Sangha members.  Over the 4-day Wesak Observance period, an estimated 3,000 visitors came to pay respects and participate in events at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang.

On Sunday 11 May, the blood donation campaign saw good participation with more than 150 donors registering to donate blood!  However, a number of potential donors had to be turned away because the Blood Bank had not brought along enough equipment to cater to so many would-be donors.

"Going for Refuge" Ceremony on Wesak Buddha Day, organised by Nalanda Institute. 55 people formally 'took refuge' in the Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha.

Nalanda Founder Bro. H S Tan, gave an English Dhamma Talk on Tuesday (Wesak) morning on this year’s ‘Buddha Day’ theme, “Being a Good Practitioner and Friend”.  Thereafter, Nalanda Institute specially organized a “Refuge Taking” ceremony for 55 ‘new’ Buddhists.  With the formal request for “Taking Refuge”, they have committed themselves to learning, practicing and living a Buddhist way of life, with the Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha as their ultimate and perpetual guide.  Sadhu anumodana!

Wesak programmes at Nalanda include 'Pindacāra' (alms-round), blood donation, and "Going for Refuge" ceremony for devotees to fully embrace a Buddhist way of life.
