Wesak Eve Dhamma taching and chanting

Wesak Eve Dhamma taching and chanting

A capacity crowd had gathered to participate in the Wesak Eve programme at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.

On Saturday 2 May, which was Wesak Eve in Malaysia, we were honoured to hear a talk by Founder Bro. Tan at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.  A capacity crowd had gathered for the evening Dhamma teaching, as well as for the Wesak Eve meditation and chanting.

Bro. Tan elaborated on Nalanda’s Wesak theme this year – “Being a Good Practitioner & Good Friend”.  He explained that Buddhist teaching is holistic education which entails a life-time of Dhamma learning and practice, benefiting the practitioner and other beings along the path towards real happiness.  It is therefore befitting for us to usher in Wesak ‘Buddha Day’ with morality, sensual restraint, heedfulness, and wise reflection.

Neville Lee, Nalanda Dharma School House Captain, delivered the Wesak Message on behalf of the School.

Bro. Tan also urged Buddhist centres in Malaysia to offer more Dhamma teachings on Wesak to benefit the community in a true sense, instead of just emphasising on rituals, no matter how popular these rituals may be.

The congregation was full of appreciation for Bro.Tan’s simple yet clear and insightful message.  Everyone later took part in the Wesak Eve chanting led by Ven. Nandasara and Ven. Gunananda from Sri Lanka.  The day’s programme ended with loving-kindness meditation, and transference of merits to all beings.  Sadhu anumodana!

May the blessings of Dhamma be upon those who practise it.  Sadhu anumodana!
