What determines the quality of life

What determines the quality of life

Bro. Tan gave a Dhamma talk on the importance of developing the quality of our minds.

On Saturday 29 July, Nalanda founder Bro. Tan visited NEO Centre Sungai Petani.  Nalandians and devotees took the opportunity to invite him for a Dhamma teaching about the importance of developing the quality of our minds.

Starting the Saturday Morning Service with offering to the Three Jewels.

Bro. Tan also led the chanting that day.

Bro. Tan explained that most people’s minds are always full of thoughts, which are usually driven by desires.  Oftentimes, we mistakenly think that happiness can be gained through wishing and praying.  However, true happiness is actually gained through the cultivation of the mind.

If we train our minds to be free from unwholesome desires, we will gain more peace and wisdom.  The Buddha thus advised us to ground ourselves in the ‘Four Foundations of Mindfulness’: i.e. mindfulness of body, feelings, mind, and Dhamma.

Devotees also asked Bro.Tan many questions to clarify doubts about their Dhamma practice.  We rejoice in this inspiring sharing given by our well-respected teacher.  May we strive to improve the quality of our lives by enhancing the quality of our minds.  Sadhu anumodana!
