Working together for Mother Nature

Working together for Mother Nature

The youth group working together to trim trees and clean the area.

Today 22 April is Earth Day, a time to reflect on our impact on the planet and up our efforts in safeguarding our planet.  Earth Day Observance at Nalanda Centre saw devotees, youths, Dhamma School facilitators, parents & students come together last Sunday 20 April, to upkeep the environment in and around our spiritual home.

Starting the day early at 8am with offerings to the Three Jewels and chanting, the congregation also learned with Sis. See Hui Shien, Director of Dhamma School on the importance of upholding harmlessness and protection of the environment which supports and provides for us our very basic needs such as clean water and air.  As part of a Dhamma community, she also encouraged everyone to work well and help each other with kindness and sincerity.

Dr. Chen Xing Wei guides the group in trimming trees and planting shrubs.

The service started in the morning with offerings to the Three Jewels.

Before the outdoor service, Sis. Hui Shien gives the congregation a better understanding of all our duty to Mother Earth.

We thank everyone for their active contributions which ranged from trimming trees, planting, clearing drainage, sorting recyclables and cleaning the Centre.  These efforts make the environment cleaner, safer and more conducive for the entire community.  Let us also put in thought and consideration to protect and preserve Mother Nature in everything that we do, every day.  Happy Earth Day!

Devotees also helped to maintain Nalanda Centre to create a conducive environment for learning.

Volunteers in the kitchen provided for everyone’s nutritional needs.

Working together to trim trees so that they continue to grow well.
