Youth Centre celebrates 4th anniversary

Nalanda Youth Centre celebrated its 4th anniversary on 1 May 2016. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Nalanda Youth Centre on celebrating its 4th anniversary on 1 May 2016!

1 May is an important date for Nalandians.  Not only does it mark the anniversary of Nalanda Buddhist Society’s establishment in 2003, it was also the day when Nalanda Youth Centre was founded in 2012; as well as the opening of their own activity centre and Youth Library in 2013.

As such, the gathering of Nalanda members and devotees on Sunday 1 May was in a joyous mood. Nalandian youths took the opportunity to thank all their mentors, benefactors and members as they celebrated their 4th anniversary with great achievements to show, and a clear path ahead.

At the Sunday gathering, the youths showed a video presentation of their activities since inception, which included Dhamma studies, training camps, community service, outings, and plenty of volunteering work.

Bro. Disheng giving a speech full of gratitude to fellow Nalandians for supporting the youth movement.

Nalanda Youth Leader Bro. Disheng counted their blessings for having the guidance of Bro. Tan, Sis. Sunanda, and Sis. Evelyn in the past four years.  The Youth Centre’s membership and activities have grown, but more importantly, there is cohesiveness, empathy and unity among members in carrying out their roles and responsibilities.

Bro. Jie Sheng shared a touching experience.

Bro. Jie Sheng shared a very touching experience about how the friends at Youth Centre inspired him when the going was tough.

Youth officer Bro. Jie Sheng shared his experience on how he was encouraged and motivated by friends at Nalanda during a challenging time.  It was the bond of friendship that inspired him to emerge through difficulties with greater strength.  And it was the Dhamma that lifted up the spirit of the youths to continue their “Life of Wisdom” together.

We congratulate Nalanda Youth Centre on its anniversary, and look forward to their continued Dhamma learning, cultivation, and progress.  Sadhu anumodana!

Not forgetting the nameless and selfless ones. We dedicate merits to those who have contributed and sacrificed for the welfare of many people. May they enjoy peace and happiness.
