Yamaka Vagga (The Twin Verses)

Verse 15 & 16

Idha socati pecca socati
pāpakārī ubhayattha socati
So socati so vihaññati
disvā kamma kilitthamattano
Here he grieves, hereafter he grieves;
in both states the evil-doer grieves.
He grieves, he is afflicted with suffering,
perceiving the impurity of his own deeds.

Idha modati pecca modati
katapuñño ubhayattha modati
So modati so pamodati
disvā kamma visuddhamattano

Here he rejoices, hereafter he rejoices;

He rejoices, exceedingly rejoices,
perceiving the purity of his own deeds.
