Verse 29

Appamatto pamattesu
suttesu bahujāgaro
Abalassam’va sīghasso
hitvā yāti sumedhaso
Heedful amongst the heedless,
wide awake amongst the slumbering,
the wise man advances just as a swift horse,
leaving a weak jade behind.
Meaning
 
appamatto a heedful person

pamattesu amongst heedless people

suttesu amongst slumbering people

bahujāgaro wide awake

abala weak

assam horse

eva just like

sīghasso [ sīgha + asso ]  a swift horse

hitvā having left behind

yāti to go;  to proceed;  to advance

sumedhaso wise man
